Aberdeen Train Station as a simulated miniature

Scotland Rail Station HDR Miniatture-001

I shot this in the rail station in Aberdeen Scotland and applied a Photoshop technique I picked up in Popular Photography that simulates the use of a Tilt/Shift lens for control of depth of field. The result, to me anyway, makes the scene look like a miniature model of a rail station.

This is a composite image from 3 exposures taken on the 4th of July. Using Photoshop CS3 I opened the three images from Adobe Lightroom and combined them as layers. Layer masks and a Wacom Intuos3 Tablet were then used to arrange them and to blend them together.

DxO DxOptics Pro: Panacea or dangerous weapon???

OK, so here is a shot that suffered from extreme distortion from a very close-up shot with the Sigma 10-20mm lens on a D300. Check out the before and after with the DxOptics "Geometry" feature and "Distortion" features turned on.....now these can be set differently and I need to go back and experiment, but this one shot is a wild difference!
